There are only four options for determining the position of a living being relative to an irritant.
A living being is not only at some distance from the irritant, but also has some difference in values with it. We will not delve into, what exactly the difference is, but it is there. First, let's assume, that the irritant is on the left, i.e. it has a value less, than the value of a living being.

In this case, a living being interacts with an irritant, they have the same property, but the property is expressed differently. The difference in values is defined as the coordinate (x). O (max) is the boundary position, beyond which a living being will die. In psychology, it does not matter, whether it is more or less, because the sign has a completely different meaning. But it must be borne in mind, that in this case the value of the irritant is less, than the value of a living being by the value (x). Next, we reflect (convert) the position of point B into the coordinate space.
The magnitude conversion also has only two options (depending on the choice of the origin). In the first case, we will assume, that the coordinate space is directed from the irritant to a living being. This means, that the position of the irritant in the coordinate space is the origin of the coordinates.
If we know all the coordinates, then we can calculate, how far a living being should move. In this case, the coordinate (x) is transformed behind the back of a living being. This means the command to move away (increase the distance), which is equivalent to negative irritation. I.e., move from position (r) to position (y). The signs are conditional, just to navigate in the directions. The quantity of irritation in this case will be the difference of two coordinates.
Quantity of irritation = y – r
There are two maximal straight segments. The first is the permissible maximum (OA) in the value space, the second is the permissible maximum (ID max) in the coordinate space. Both segments must correspond to each other through the correspondence of the dimension of spaces, i.e. one unit of the dimension of the value (of any) must correspond to one unit of the dimension of the space, as well as the permissible maxima. If look closely, the position (D (max)) in the coordinate space corresponds to the position (O (max)) in the value space, the position (I (0)) in the coordinate space corresponds to the position (A (0)) in the value space, a position (B (y)) in the coordinate space corresponds to the position (B (x)) in the value space, they just have a different scale. If so, then they have the same ratio.
D (max) / B (y) = O (max) / B (x)
What happens, if a living being determines a much smaller difference in values between itself and the irritant in the space of values? In this case, the position of point B will be different, which means the coordinate will be different.

If the coordinate is different, then its projection relative to the origin in the coordinate space will be different.

The quantity of irritation in this case can be calculated in the same way as before, just get a negative number. Can subtract less from more.
Quantity of irritation = y' – r
In psychology, there is no point in playing with negative magnitudes, because in distilled psychology there are no numbers at all, and therefore no negative coordinates. There are only directions. In this case, this is the direction to the irritant, so the irritation should be considered positive. The ratio of spaces and positions will remain the same.
D (max) / B (y) = O (max) / B (x)
Relative to the irritant, which we took as the origin of coordinates, the change in the coordinate of a living being will be either addition (r + the quantity of irritation) or subtraction (r – the quantity of irritation). This is not essential, because, firstly, the quantity of irritation further in any case needs to be converted into distance, technical parameters, etc., i.e. such a coordinate calculation is not quite correct as we write it. Secondly, any changes further occur from a living being, that is at the origin of coordinates. What difference does it make, who is and at what distance, the direction is more important, where exactly to move, to the irritant or from the irritant. Therefore, any change in the coordinate will increase the quantity of irritation (well, not really, but let's say) to zero.
Last and most important. Position B(y) or B(y') is the place, where a living being should stop. It does not matter, whether a living being has an initial velocity, or it is at rest, but the point B in the coordinate space is the place, where the velocity of movement should be zero. Accordingly, in the figures above, the irritant sets the place where the living being should come and stop at this point. As can see, an irritant can order a living being both to get closer to itself and to move away from itself. That is, both to reduce the distance and to increase the distance between. He indicates to the living being his new position. Even if the irritant is located only to the left in the space of values, even if we take the origin of coordinates only at the point, where the irritant is located, even with such initial introductions, a living being can be moved back or forth along a straight line, that is drawn through it and the irritant. It all depends on the position of point B in the space of values, how far it is from point A, how far a living being is from the irritant in physical reality, how much the spaces correspond, what are the maxima there, etc. A large selection.

The second option is to choose the origin at the point, that reflects the maximum distance. The irritant in the value space is still on the left, the coordinates do not change. But in the coordinate space, the position of the points will be different.
Does it make sense to refresh memory, what is happening in the value space? There is a point B, nothing has changed.
And now we will reflect the position of point B from the value space to the coordinate space relative to the new coordinate center.

What has changed? Basically, nothing. The quantity of irritation will also be considered (y – k), although the value may already be different. Similarly, the position of the irritant in the space of values may prescribe to increase the distance, not decrease. Even the ratio will be the same.
D (max) / B (y) = O (max) / B (x)
Only I (max) has changed to D (max), but it is the same value. Therefore, we can say, that nothing has changed. The question may arise, why flip the origin of coordinates, if exactly the same effect can be achieved if move the position of the irritant in the coordinate space closer to the position of a living being?

By changing the origin, we seem to change the polarity. The same coordinate (x) can be converted into two different versions of the position of the coordinate (y). So it will be two different commands. Why duplicate it, if can move B(x) closer to point A? There is a physical meaning behind each coordinate. And the coordinate (x) is the difference in values, i.e. the difference in the expression of the property. On the left, the higher the difference in values, the closer to the irritant there should be a living being in physical reality and in the coordinate space. If the difference in values is maximal (corresponds to the maximum permissible), then the living being must be at the point where the irritant is located (minimum distance). This method is necessary if mechanical contact between the irritant and a living being is necessary. On the right, the higher the difference in values, the further away from the irritant a living being should be in physical reality and in the coordinate space. If the difference in values is maximal (corresponds to the maximum permissible), then the living being should be at the maximum distance from the irritant. In both cases, by moving point B, we move a living being, we control the distance through the difference in values, but the control method is the opposite — either by reducing the difference in values, or by increasing the difference in values.

The irritant can be located on the right in the space of values, i.e. have a value higher, than the value of a living being. But the meaning is the same there, there is a maximum allowable difference of values, there is an actual difference of values in the form of a coordinate (x). Everything will be similar, only the control element will have a greater expression of some quality.

For a snack, a small task. Let's imagine, that a living being and an irritant have a difference of 9 units of florality, the maximum allowable florality for a living being is 50 units, and each unit of florality corresponds to three meters. At what distance should a living being stop from the irritant after the interaction, if now it is at a distance of 40 meters from the irritant, and the coordinate space is directed to the irritant? The correct answer is at a distance of 123 meters, because it's not worth it, somehow not too floral. And if the coordinate space is directed away from the irritant? Then at a distance of 27 meters, because it seems normal, not too floral. The distance traveled in both cases will be different (83 meters from the irritant and 13 meters to the irritant). Is it good if the difference in florality is 41 units? Then, if the direction is towards the irritant, then at a distance of 13 meters (because it is very floral), and if from the irritant, then at a distance of 123 meters (because it is too floral).
